Recipes and cooking tips

How to cook soft-boiled, hard-boiled and eggs on touch ?

Eggs,we use for cooking, should have a room temperature. This is important. The cold eggs would crack easily. It´s caused by the big temperature difference. So we take eggs from the fridge in advance, or we can use a trick. When the egg is warmed up, the air inside the shell starts to expand and its higher pressure could crack the shell. We precede this with perforating the eggshell on the top with a needle. Cracking of the eggshell we could avoid by cooking them in a smaller saucepan, so they couldn´t move during the cooking.

The cold water method

– we put eggs into the cold water. Pour water 1cm over the eggs. Then bring the water to a boil.

  • soft boiled eggs – soft liquid yolk, cooking time 2-3 minutes.
  • eggs on touch – white hard, yolk partly liquid, cooking time 4 minutes.
  • hard boiled eggs – cooking time 7 minutes.

The hot water method

– We put eggs into the hot boiling water. We boil the water with eggs just for 1 minute. Eggs are delicate and will continue to cook even after we’ve taken them off the heat. so it’s really important to remove them just before they’re ready (after 1 minute) and let them in hot water

  • for 3 minutes – soft boiled eggs
  • for 4 minutes – eggs on touch
  • for 10-12 minutes – hard boiled eggs

So that they’ll be just right by the time we come to eat them.
